Important Delaware Bay Watershed Lands Saved from Wal-Mart Development Plan: After a two-and-a-half-year battle, the American Littoral Society and a coalition of environmental and citizens groups have defeated Wal-Mart’s proposal to build a Supercenter inside the congressionally approved boundaries of the Supawna Meadows National Wildlife Refuge located in Pennsville, Salem County, New Jersey in the Delaware Bay watershed. May 13th: Restoration volunteers & boats needed  in Monmouth Beach--We are looking for about 15 volunteers to help plant native shrubs on an island in the Shrewsbury River as part of a salt marsh restoration project. Be prepared to get a bit muddy and to do some moderate lifting and digging. We will be gathering around 9:30AM and expect to finish by 2:00PM. Come for all or part or the day. Beach Grass Planting a Great Success Thanks to all who came out on Sunday morning to plant their American beach grass on the dunes at Sandy Hook. We recognize Leonardo Elementary School, Bayshore Middle School, and Red Bank Regional High School, and their teachers and advisors for making our annual program a success. Read about it in the Asbury Park Press.
