Stevie Thorsen joined the American Littoral Society as an intern for the education program in 2009.
Following this internship, she joined the staff fulltime as the Education Director.
Since joining the staff, Stevie has worked to increase student interest in coastal conservation through field trips to Sandy Hook, the SeaQuest afterschool program, and Beachgrasses in Classes. Over 1000 students participate in these programs annually and participation continues to grow.
She also organized three Sandy Hook BioBlitzes, multiple community dune restoration projects, and launched the Spill Spotters program empowering citizens to prepare for and respond to oil spills.
Stevie received a bachelor’s degree in Ecology and Natural Resources and a certificate in Environmental Geomatics from Cook College, Rutgers University in 2009.
