​Assateague Fall Weekend

Van transport to Chincoteague is $150 per person


Join the American Littoral Society for a Fall wildlife bonanza weekend along the Delmarva coast. Participants are likely to see Snow Geese, waterfowl, Bald Eagles, Osprey, migrating raptors, shorebirds, White and Glossy Ibis, Great Blue, Little Blue, and Tri-colored herons, egrets, Marbled Godwits, Clapper Rails, wild ponies with young of year, Delmarva fox squirrels, Sika Deer, Red Fox, and maybe an otter or two (if you get up early)!  Some carpooling and shared van rental leaving from Manhattan if needed.   
 
Cost includes three nights lodging at the lovely Refuge Inn (double occupancy) , 2-hour boat tour of island, 2-hour Safari bus tour of backwater marshes (if available), evening programs and star watch, plus guided hikes at Chincoteague Refuge and Assateague National Seashore. On the way home we’ll stop at Bombay Hook Refuge to look for Avocets, Eagles, Harriers, Black-necked Stilts, and other wildlife.
 
The Inn has an indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna, exercise room, conference room and sun/star observation deck. Breakfasts at Inn included in price. Chincoteague has great crab cakes, local oysters, fresh seafood, and the famous bumbleberry pie.
 
Reservations – Cost is  $595 person (double occupancy), $150 single supplement. To reserve space, please send a deposit of $100 or the full amount to: American Littoral Society, 18 Hartshorne Drive, Highlands, NJ 07732   attn: Diana.  

Let us know if you need a ride or can take riders, or if you’d like to take the van. For those taking van, the cost is $150 for rental, gas, tolls.
