Close Encounters with the Coast

Field Trips for Schools, Scouts, and Recreation Groups

Picture
Explore Sandy Hook National Recreation Area with Littoral Society naturalists. The Close Encounters with the Coast program is ideal for an end of the year school field-trip, a trip designed to obtain a scout badge for scout groups, and private and municipal summer camps/recreation groups.

Our interactive hands-on program connects kids to the coast in a way they will never forget. We will explore the beach, bay, and maritime forest of Sandy Hook National Recreation Area. Educating the public about coastal ecosystems, marine life, habitat, and threats to them is key to our mission.

Program activities include seining in the bay, marine life identification, horseshoe crab discovery activities, a beach walk, and a shell scavenger hunt.

We will design the perfect program to meet your needs and age group.

Now booking limited one day Close Encounters with the Coast programs in June, July, August and beginning of September. Cost for the Close Encounters with the Coast program is $10 per student with a $200 minimum charge. For more information, contact Nicole Haines, Nicole.Haines@LittoralSociety.org or
