Morning of Birding at Sandy Hook!
Wednesday, September 30, 2026 8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Meet at the Littoral Society Office 18 Hartshorne Dr, Gateway National Recreation Area Sandy Hook Unit Highlands, NJ 07732 Member - $15 per participant Nonmember - $25 per participant Discover the birds of Sandy Hook! Join the American Littoral Society's expert birder, Dan Burgoynefor a morning of birding within various habitats around Sandy Hook! First, we will meet at our office and lead guests by vehicle down to the Fishing Beach. Here, we will explore the maritime forests in search of various species including yellow-billed cuckoo, ruby-throated hummingbird, and black-&-white warblers. Then we will hop back in our vehicles and drive over to the Spermaceti Cove boardwalk. Here, we will scan the bayside salt marshes for waterbirds such as royal terns, great blue herons, great egrets, and black-bellied plovers! Perfect for birders of all experience levels! Please bring binoculars, sunscreen, bug spray, a water bottle, snacks, and appropriate footwear or hiking shoes for paved and sandy terrain.
