As the assistant director Pim Van Hemmen oversees all society operations.
Born and raised in the Netherlands, he is an avid outdoors enthusiast who particularly enjoys water related activities. He owns way too many boats, which makes his wife sometimes wonder if he runs a marina out of their backyard.
In a prior life Pim was a newspaper and marine photographer and the assistant managing editor for photography, videography and digital content at The Star-Ledger in Newark, New Jersey, where he won two Pulitzer Prizes.
He lives in Fair Haven, New Jersey, with his wife Jeanne-Marie, a maritime attorney, and their children Helena and Kees.
His environmental dream is to be able to walk to the end of a dock on the Navesink River and see 10 feet down, clear to the bottom.
