dunes protect people and property. Each year the American Littoral Society leads the public in the planting of dune grasses to build these important natural barriers that protect us from the sea.

Dunes are only as good as the grasses and their root systems that hold them together.

The American Littoral Society regularly organizes dune grass plantings up and down the coast.  We plant dunes with corporations, private groups, municipalities and school groups to protect life, limb and property from dangerous storms.  

Since Hurricane Sandy, the Society has expanded its dune grass planting program.
