Sarasota Bay

Picture

Sarasota Bay, FL

In the Sarasota office the Society focuses on educating the public about the bay's exceptional resources by getting people out onto the water.  We also restore coastal habitat.

We connect residents and tourists with the Bays wildlife and habitats on the land and on the water through eco-tours.

We use the Carefree Learner, a pontoon boat equipped with marine science equipment and staffed by experts, or kayaks, connecting residents and tourists with habitat and wildlife accessible only by water.

KAYAK TRIPS
Enjoy leisurely paddling and observation at a variety of sites difficult to visit by any other means. Kayak, paddle, life vest, etc. are all supplied. If you’ve never used a kayak before, a short training session before the trip will get you going. Society members who own a kayak and life vest are welcome to go on trips that do not have an asterisk (*) for a $5 donation to the American Littoral Society. Cost is $20 for members, and $25 for non- member unless otherwise noted. Trips into State parks require an additional entrance fee.  See our calendar for more information.  Call John at (941) 966-7308 for reservations.
Littoral Society excursions are currently canceled or postponed.

UPCOMING KAYAK TRIPS

Kayak trips resume soon. Dates will appear here and in the Littoral Society Calendar once they are scheduled.

RESTORATION PROJECTS

The volunteers of the Southeast Chapter in the Sarasota area help local wildlife and improve water quality through grass roots habitat restoration projects in coastal areas. Most of the sites selected are publicly owned lands, either county parks, state parks, or wildlife refuges. Volunteers remove invasive plant species and then replant native species. The Society needs individuals and volunteer groups to help with these projects.  We love to partner with schools, scouts, civic groups, corporations, and faith-based groups. Contact John Sarkozy at 941-966-7308.
