Littoral Society Locations

Sandy Hook - Highlands, NJ

The American Littoral Society was founded on Sandy Hook in 1961 and its headquarters have been there ever since.  In 1985 the society moved into 18 Hartshorne Drive, which on officer's  in what was once Ft. Hancock, and is now part of the National Park Service's Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area. Despite the location, the US Postal Service and GPS devices list the building as located in Highlands, NJ 07732.

From Building 18 the society runs numerous events, including public nature walks, sunset seining events, a biodiversity BioBlitz, and the Society's annual Members Day and Annual Meeting. The building is open to the public during business hours, Monday through Friday 9 am-5 pm.
