R-Corps

Restoration Corps

Each summer, the American Littoral Society activates our Restoration Corps program. Also known as R-Corps, this youth employment and education initiative seeks to provide training, education, and job skills for the next generation of environmental stewards. The program is specifically designed to engage young people in meaningful environmental projects.

R-Corps is a green jobs training and service program for those aged 16-25 that teaches participants to build and restore the natural environment through shoreline and habitat restoration. Team members work outdoors and hands-on in our local communities in Cumberland County, NJ and around Jamaica Bay, NY. In addition to working on projects themselves, R-Corps members help provide skilled guidance in larger community events.

The part-time positions involve 15-18 hours of work per week, starting in late-May or late-June, depending on availability, and continuing through early August. Team members are paid $15/hour for the South Jersey program or $15.50/hour for the New York program.

The R-Corps has evolved into a highly competitive green jobs training program that teaches youth from vulnerable communities to build and restore the natural environment through environmental stewardship. Many alumni R-Corps members have used their unique experiences as part of their college applications, earning scholarships and are currently pursuing careers in environmental engineering.

Currently the program operates out of the Littoral Society's Northeast Chapter Office, located in Broad Channel, NY, and the Delaware Bayshore office in Millville, NJ.
The American Littoral Society is currently hiring for Restoration Corps - Summer 2023. Complete the online application found HERE.
