It's not just a fun run, it's a family-friendly affair, at an amazing location, that is followed by good food from a great restaurant. All to support an important cause -- the American Littoral Society's efforts to care for the coast. The 2nd Annual Lobster Run/Walk to Care for the Coast will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 9 a.m. on the Asbury Park, NJ boardwalk. Once again the Society will partner with Langosta Lounge and Split Second Racing for this fulfilling event. The run/walk will be followed by an optional after-party at the relaxing Langosta Lounge, and feature a menu developed especially for the occasion. Participants can sign-up for food, the run or a combo of both. Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Littoral Society, a 501c3 charity based at Sandy Hook, NJ that has been protecting and restoring the coast since 1961. Those who can't run or want to do more for the cause can fundraise or make a donation through the event registration page. Specialties on the race day menu are Lobster Asparagus Strata with a lemon herb hollandaise, Fat Elvis Tiki Toast (banana peanut butter mascarpone, chocolate chips and praline bacon), Pineapple & Coconut Tiki Toast with mango maple syrup, and Breakfast Burritos (Chorizo or Vegetarian). There will also be a selection of croissants and pastries, Greek yogurt, berries and fruit, home fries, pork roll, and applewood smoked bacon. New this year will be a time-trial format that will eliminate starting-line congestion and build a bit of suspense into the proceedings. Our chip-timing system allows participants to start at any point between 9 and 10 a.m. Overall winners and top age group finishers will be determined once the last participant crosses the finish line. A real-time electronic leader board will allow everyone to keep an eye on finish times while enjoying the food and a mimosa, bloody mary or beer from the Langosta's bar. Coffee, tea and juice are included with the food price. The event will be held rain or shine and include live race results and awards for the top three male and female finishers, and age-group winners. This year the runner with the best lobster look will also win a one-year family membership to the American Littoral Society and the envy of everyone else at the event. Online registration is available at Raceforum.com/Lobster. Register before April 8 for discounted entry fee and guaranteed race t-shirt. Event price will increase at midnight on April 7. Early packet pick-up from 4-7 p.m. on Friday April 14 at Road Runner Sports, 490 Broad St Suite 1, Shrewsbury, NJ. On-site registration and packet pick-up begins at 8 a.m. on race day.
