Littorally Local, will be more than a fun evening with great food. Besides a Navesink River cruise, that will explore the estuary's natural history and wildlife, participants will learn about the American Littoral Society’s work in New Jersey, New York and beyond. In addition to Operation Oyster, the Society's effort to bring oysters back to New Jersey's waters, we'll be talking to folks about "Shuck It, Don't Chuck It!," our shell recycling program in New Jersey's restaurants; our work restoring marshes and shorelines along Delaware, Barnegat and Jamaica Bay to help prepare our coastlines to weather future storms; our education programs such as Sea Quest, Grasses in Classes, and Close Encounters with the Coast that aim to provide a hands-on environmental experience for children and adults; as well as our ongoing efforts to protect beach access in the state and promote ocean planning around the United States. But make no mistake, there will be good food and fun, too. Click here for more info and to buy your ticket. The casual farm-to-table fare will come to us from Fresh Bistro, the highly-regarded restaurant and catering company based in Highlands, NJ, with ingredients from Honey Brook Organic Farm, which has fields in NJ's Burlington and Mercer counties. Among the items on the menu for the evening will be grilled giant garlic shrimp, seared scallops with crumbled pancetta, coriander crusted tuna, and black truffle grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup shooters. There will also be a raw bar by the Barnegat Bay Oyster Collective, and beer from vendors including the award-winning Cape May Brewing Company. Dinner will be preceded by the sunset cruise aboard Teal Cruises' Festiva, which is fully enclosed and temperature regulated. The boat will launch from Red Bank Marina and transport will be provided from the OceanFirst Bank Center to the marina and back on the historic Long Branch trolley. During the reception, there will be live music and a silent auction, with items generously provided by a host of local businesses and attractions. Littorally Local is the American Littoral Society's once-a-year celebration of everything we love about our coastal communities, hand-in-hand with an opportunity for you to help us advance our mission of protecting and restoring the coast. Please join us for this wonderful evening of food and fun, sights and sounds. Click here to buy your ticket today. Comments are closed.
